This little Buddha sits in the eastern niche of Wat Chedi Luang at the top of very long stairs. It is a replica of the "Emerald Buddha," the most important image in Thailand, now in Bangkok's Wat Phra Kaew. The "Emerald Buddha" itself occupied this niche from 1468 to 1553 before being taken to Laos. This replica was carved from Canadian jade and placed here in 1995.
